Powerball Dreaming: You Might Have Already Won

As I was driving my son to school this morning I found myself daydreaming about winning the Powerball jackpot (without taking my eyes off the road!). I realize the odds of me getting killed by a swarm of African killer bees is 50 times greater than me winning the $500 million, but that couldn’t stop me from indulging in the sweet sensation of instant wealth, and all the wonderful benefits that come with it.

I thought about all the things in my life I would change and all the people I would help. I would never have to think about price before buying; first class all the way. As visions of my new life raced by to the soundtrack of If I Were A Rich Man, I realized that one element remained the same regardless of the scenario: my family. When I imagined my new mansions, my wife and kids were living in them with me. When I thought of the ways I would help others, my family members were the first, and most important, recipients. If I won the half billion, everything in my life would change accept for my family. No, I wouldn’t trade them in for an upgrade because to me they are worth more than all the money in the world.

That’s when it hit me: I had already won the jackpot. I am the wealthiest man in the world because I have a wife and two beautiful children whom I love more than anything, and who feel the same way about me. I realized that I didn’t need to win the lottery to be rich. I was already a winner. If you have people you love and who love you, you are too.

Ok, I still hope I win Powerball!
